Chieftains of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) have distant itself from reports making the rounds in some daily newspaper and online news websites (not iwitnesslive.com) that the federation has extended Jose Peseiro’s contract.
A top NFF official who pleaded anonymity debunked the rumour, stressing that the generation are still in the dark over what the future hold for the Portuguese-born Super Eagles gaffer.
” Yes NFF is really disturbed by the looks of things especially with Super Eagles not punching above their weight since the arrival of Peseiro, but the football federation has not extended his contract,”he said
Also, in a similar report, NFF Media Director, Ademola Olajire, yesterday, in a chat with The Guardian, described the report as fake new.
“I am not aware that Peseiro’s contract has been renewed. Such information will be released by the NFF when it happens,” he said. The NFF recently took to the social media to gauge Nigerians’ disposition to the plan to retain the Portuguese as Super Eagles’ coach.
It would be recalled the press was washed with reports that Peseiro has been endorsed to tinker Super Eagles till after next year’s Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cote d’Ivoire
