Super Eagles: NFF weighs Finidi-Amuneke partnership

By David Kabiyesi

Apparently confused and fed up with coach Jose Peseiro’s technical and tactical nativity, the Nigeria Football Federation is weighing up the option of appointing Enyimba gaffer, Finidi George and ex-international Emmanuel Amuneke, iwitnesslive.com scooped.

Some NFF top brass, in one of its nocturnal meetings, had mooted the idea of saddling the duo with the responsibility of barking our orders to Super Eagles players from the touchline.

Word was rife in Abuja that the current board is not keen on extending the gaffer’s contract despite moves by some senior Super Eagles players to ensure Peseiro keeps his job.

iwitnesslive.com decent source stated in clear terms that Finidi and Amuneke remain top in the pecking order of coaches considered as suitable replacements for Peseiro with the manager’s future still unclear even as the board continues its struggles to pay his salary.

“The board is indeed weighing the option of looking inwards with Finidi and Amuneke top in the scheme of things for now,” our source revealed.

Peseiro earns $70, 000 a month, following his appointment as Eagles gaffer on May 15, 2022, after Austin Eguavoen returned to his Technical Director role at the federation.
