Super Eagles gaffer, Jose Peseiro have been told to drop some senior players from upcoming AFCON qualifiers between Nigeria and Siera-Leone, iwitnesslive.com scooped.
Top hierarchies of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) were said to be unimpressed with performance of some senior players who struggled to make the cut at their respective clubs, and have ordered Peseiro to ensure such player are chopped.
Preparation for the qualifier is expected to begin in earnest after Peseiro revealed that camp will open on June 12 in Abuja.
In his word, Team Coordinator, Patrick Pascal said the team would leave no stone uturned to ensure Nigeria pick three maximum points again Sierra Leone.
“The game against Sierra Leone will be tough because they are also eager to qualify for the Nations Cup. “We are happy that most of the overseas-based players earmarked for the game are in good form for their various clubs.
“Although we are not underestimating any country because football is growing rapidly across the world, we are focused on winning the game and qualify for the 2024 AFCON,” he said.
Super Eagles top Group A of the qualifiers with nine points and need just a point from the game to secure a place in the Cote d’Ivoire 2024 list.
