Tinubu engaged in a closed-door meeting with Wike, Umahi, and Akpabio

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is presently in a meeting with former governors Nyesom Wike (Rivers), Dave Umahi (Ebonyi), and Godswill Akpabio (Akwa Ibom) at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

The three former governors arrived at approximately 2:33 p.m., but their entry was momentarily delayed by security personnel who sought clearance from their superiors before granting them access to the president’s office, as they had not been previously informed about the visit.

Last Friday, Nyesom Wike and Dave Umahi visited the State House separately to meet with President Muhammadu Buhari. Wike was accompanied by James Ibori, the former governor of Delta State, and Seyi Makinde, the Governor of Oyo State.

On the other hand, Umahi came along with Senator George Akume, who had recently been appointed as the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF).

During his conversation with journalists on that day, Wike stated that his purpose for visiting the State House was to express his support for President Tinubu. This indicates Wike’s endorsement of the president’s leadership.

It is important to note that Godswill Akpabio is the preferred candidate of the All-Progressives Congress (APC) for the position of Senate President. Additionally, Umahi, who recently concluded his tenure as the Governor of Ebonyi State, is a Senator-elect.

There is an unconfirmed report circulating, suggesting that Wike may be considered for a ministerial position. This speculation arises from his significant role in the February 25 presidential election, which brought President Tinubu into power.

Despite being a member of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Wike’s contributions to Tinubu’s electoral success have apparently gained recognition.
