The Coalition of Registered Political Parties (CRPP) , Enugu State chapter, has commended the council election conducted in the state over the weekend, describing it as peaceful, free, fair, and credible.
The Coalition gave the approval on Monday during a press conference in Enugu and commended the Enugu State Independent Electoral Commission (ENSIEC), security agencies and stakeholders for ensuring a conducive atmosphere for the election to thrive.
ENSIEC announced the outcome of the election at its headquarters on Sunday. According to the results announced by its Chairman, Prof. Chris Ngwu, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) won all the 17 chairmanship and 260 ward councillorship seats in the State.
Addressing the media on the conduct and outcome of the exercise, CRPP’s Chairman in Enugu State, Dr. Afam Ani, said such peaceful atmosphere enabled voters to exercise their civic franchise without fear, intimidation, or hindrance.
“The election was conducted in a calm and orderly manner across the various Local Government Areas, wards and Polling Units of the State.
“We particularly acknowledge the efforts of ENSIEC in providing all participating political parties with a level playing field throughout the electoral process. The Commission’s engagement with stakeholders, adherence to established electoral guidelines, and transparent administration of the election contributed significantly to the confidence reposed in the process by political parties and the electorate.
“The CRPP also appreciates Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah for being a true democrat and commend the security agencies, election officials, political parties, candidates, party agents, observers, the media, and the good people of Enugu State for their cooperation and commitment to maintaining peace before, during, and after the election.
“We encourage all stakeholders to continue to uphold the principles of democracy, political tolerance, and peaceful coexistence, which are essential for the progress and development of our State,” he said.
