The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Mr. Festus Keyamo, SAN, has been honoured with the “Workers’ Minister of the Decade Award” for outstanding leadership and commitment to workers’ welfare.
According to a statement in Abuja on Saturday by Tunde Moshood, Special Adviser on Media and Communications to the Minister, the award was presented at the 2026 National Pre-Retirement Summit (NPS 2026) held on Wednesday at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre, Abuja.
The presentation was led by veteran labour leader and President of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners, Chief Godwin Abumisi, alongside the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Joe Ajaero.
The organisers said the award was in recognition of Keyamo’s consistent commitment to issues affecting workers and pensioners.
The summit, convened by XEM Consultants Limited, was themed: “Own Your Retirement: From Planning to Action.”
The two-day event brought together representatives of over 100 public and private sector organisations to deliberate on retirement planning, financial preparedness and post-service wellbeing.
It also provided a platform for stakeholders from government, organised labour, the private sector and other institutions to examine strategies for ensuring a secure and productive retirement for workers.
Receiving the award in the presence of labour leaders and other stakeholders, Keyamo expressed appreciation for the recognition and reaffirmed the importance of protecting the dignity, welfare and rights of workers, both in active service and in retirement.
