Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Umo Eno, has assure the Chairman and Board members of the seplat energy of conducive and peaceful environment to operate in the state.
The governor who stated this when the board paid him a courtesy visit at government house Uyo yesterday also congratulated the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Engr Okon on his appointment noting that it was the first of its kind for the people of Akwa Ibom State.
He pledged his support and that of the State to him during his tenure.
Governor Umo Eno said the State was intentional about maintaining peace as it is a critical driver of development and investments.
He charged the Company not to rest on its oars but device measures to surpass the corporate social investment strategies of the former Exxon Mobil by doing more to improve the fortunes of their host communities and the State in generally.
Governor Eno commended Seplat Energy for its sense of responsibility, concern and collaboration with the State Government thus far and looked forward to subsequent visits of the CEO to the State.
Speaking earlier during the visit, the Board Chairman, Senator Udoma Udo Udoma, said the visit was primarily to introduce the new Chief Executive Officer of the Company, Engr Effiong Okon, to the Governor, following his assumption of duty.
He recalled that on acquisition of the then Exxon Mobil by Seplat Energy in 2024, he had visited the Government House to introduce the then CEO, Mr. Roger Brown.
Following the exit of the former helmsman, it was pertinent to introduce the new Management to the State, Udoma said.
He thanked the Governor for the consistent warm welcome he has always enjoyed whenever he visits the State.
Also speaking, the CEO, Engr Effiong Okon, expressed delight to be back home to work for the benefit of the State and its people while equally serving the Company.
He said the acquisition of the then Exxon Mobil by Seplat Energy had significantly increased portfolio of Seplat Energy, providing enormous offshore assets to the Company.
He expressed hope that his tenure will translate to visible positive impact to the Organization, the host communities and the State as a whole.
He further solicited for the support and cooperation of the Governor and the people of the State to enable the Company to meet its target milestones.
