The Nigerian Army has warned farmers and cattle rearers around Zaranda Hill and Geji Village in Bauchi State to keep away from designated areas ahead of a live-firing exercise scheduled for Wednesday, September 23, 2026.
The exercise, to be conducted by the Nigerian Army Armour School, Obienu Barracks, Bauchi, along the Bauchi-Jos Road, is expected to involve the movement of troops and military equipment, as well as the firing of live ammunition and projectiles.
In a statement signed by the Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, Nigerian Army Armour Corps, Major Adekunle A. Adeyemi, the Army said the Fire Power Demonstration Exercise would commence at 6:00 a.m. and end at 6:00 p.m.
The Army specifically advised farmers and cattle rearers operating around the Field Training Exercise Area near Zaranda Hill and Geji Village to stay away throughout the exercise.
It warned that the live ammunition and projectiles being used could cause serious injury or death.
The Army also urged residents along the Bauchi-Jos Road and surrounding communities not to panic upon seeing large movements of troops or hearing gunshots and explosions.
According to the statement, adequate measures have been put in place to safeguard lives and property during the exercise.
The Commandant of the Nigerian Army Armour School, Major General Sunday Makolo, appealed to residents to cooperate with the military and strictly observe all safety directives.
