A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State, Mr Ighodaro George, has commended the former presidential aspirant of the party, Hon. Stanley Osifo, for what he described as his commitment to nation building, democratic values and the development of Nigeria.
George, in a personally signed statement issued on Monday to mark Osifo’s birthday, described the politician and businessman as a “rare politician” whose political activities, according to him, have been driven by a desire to contribute to the country rather than personal interest.
He said that Osifo’s decision to participate in the APC presidential primary process demonstrated his commitment to democratic participation and the opportunity to contribute ideas to the development of Nigeria.
“Stanley Osifo is a rare politician who has shown that he has the love of the country at heart rather than pursuing personal gains,” George said.
According to him, Osifo’s participation in the presidential contest was motivated by his desire to strengthen democracy and contribute to the debate about the direction of the country.
“His decision to contest the presidential primary was borne out of his belief in democracy and his desire to contribute his ideas to the development of Nigeria,” he said.
George further described Osifo as a politician who, in his view, has maintained a cordial relationship with people across different sections of society.
“Stanley Osifo is a man of the people. He is a philanthropist and someone that has the love of the people at heart,” he said.
He added that Osifo’s approach to politics had demonstrated what he described as maturity and tolerance.
“His politics is not do or die, and we will continue to support him in his future endeavours. We believe that people who have ideas and are willing to serve should always be encouraged to contribute to the growth of our country,” George stated.
The APC chieftain also congratulated Osifo on his birthday, praying for good health, wisdom and continued success.
“On this special occasion of your birthday, I extend my warmest wishes to you.
“May your new age bring you good health, greater wisdom, strength, peace and abundant blessings. May you continue to experience success and fulfilment in all your endeavours,” he said.
George described the birthday as an opportunity to celebrate Osifo’s contributions to public life and expressed optimism that he would continue to make his experience and resources available to the development of society.
“Happy birthday, Hon. Stanley Osifo. Wishing you many more years of happiness, grace and remarkable achievements,” he said.
Osifo had earlier participated in the APC’s 2027 presidential nomination process, alongside President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
George also urged Nigerians to continue to support the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, saying that the government’s reforms were aimed at addressing some of the country’s economic challenges.
He acknowledged that reforms could come with difficulties but urged Nigerians to remain patient and constructive in their assessment of government policies.
“We should continue to support the government and give it the opportunity to implement its programmes. Reforms are not always easy, but they are intended to reposition the country and create a better future for Nigerians,” he said.
He called on political leaders and citizens to place national interest above personal considerations, stressing that Nigeria’s development required collective effort.
“Building a better Nigeria is a responsibility that belongs to all of us. Political differences should not prevent us from working together for the progress and stability of our country,” George added.
