2027: Shehu Buba Receives Political Heavyweights as Decampees Join PRP

The People’s Redemption Party (PRP) governorship candidate in Bauchi State, Senator Shehu Buba Umar, on Sunday received a fresh boost to his 2027 campaign as prominent politicians and supporters from various political parties defected to the party.

The decampees, led by a renowned politician, Alhaji Shehu Barau Ningi, were received during a mega rally at the Games Village in Bauchi.

Shehu Buba described the development as a demonstration of growing confidence in the PRP ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

He thanked the new members and other supporters of the party across the state, assuring them that he would justify the confidence reposed in him.

The senator said preparations were underway for campaigns across the 20 local government areas of Bauchi State following the commencement of the official campaign period by INEC.

He urged party supporters to remain calm and focused, saying the PRP was determined to change what he described as the pattern of governance in the state over the past seven years.

Shehu Buba also challenged rival political parties and their candidates to tell the electorate what they would do differently if elected rather than engage in what he described as blackmail.

According to him, the PRP would run a government that would be different from previous administrations, with emphasis on the welfare and development of the people.

In his remarks, Ningi said the growing support for Shehu Buba indicated his popularity among Bauchi voters.

He called on residents to vote wisely in the 2027 elections, expressing confidence that the PRP candidate would emerge victorious.

Ningi further accused some political opponents of relying on campaign calumny instead of issue-based engagement with voters.

He said perceived injustice within the APC was responsible for his decision to defect to the PRP along with other political stakeholders.

The rally also witnessed the presentation of the party’s senatorial candidates for the three senatorial districts of the state.

They included Aliyu Shehu Barden Habas for Bauchi South, Salisu Zakaria for Bauchi Central and the incumbent senator from Bauchi North, Senator Dahuwa Kaila Kachalla who is seeking another term.

The major highlight of the event was the formal unveiling of the decampees to PRP supporters.
