Pastor David Ibiyeomie, founder of Salvation Ministries, has strongly condemned internet fraud, popularly known as Yahoo Yahoo, urging Christians to stay away from anyone involved in the practice.
Speaking during a sermon, the pastor expressed concern that some internet fraudsters still operate within the church and show little or no remorse for the people affected by their actions.
“Do you know that there are Yahoo boys inside the church? They have no conscience. They Yahoo somebody and they are very happy in church,” Ibiyeomie said.
He stressed that no matter how internet fraud is presented or justified, it remains stealing because the victim’s money is obtained dishonestly.
“No matter how you put it, Yahoo is stealing. I don’t care how you paint it. Whatever you take that belongs to somebody else, that is not your own, is stealing. Yahoo is stealing,” he declared.
The pastor also shared the story of a university professor and electrical engineer who, according to him, lost his entire savings to fraudsters and later collapsed and died.
“Every money he saved as a professor, all his savings, was taken,” he said.
Ibiyeomie therefore warned Christians who associate closely with internet fraudsters to reconsider such relationships, stressing that the consequences of fraud can go far beyond financial loss.
“In case you are following such a person, separate from him now,” he warned.
He went as far as telling anyone involved in Yahoo Yahoo who worships in his church to leave and worship elsewhere.
“Because you are killing people. People have died because of Yahoo,” he added.
