Bauchi Police Orders Full Investigation into Custody Death Allegation

The Commissioner of Police in Bauchi State, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has directed an immediate investigation into allegations that a young man died after being assaulted by police personnel in Misau Local Government Area.

The directive followed reports circulating on social media alleging that Abdullahi Adamu, 20, of Sebore Village, Hardawa District, was assaulted while being interrogated at a police outpost under the Misau Division.

The Police Command said the deceased was taken to the Federal Medical Centre, Misau, before he was referred to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, Bauchi, where he later died while receiving treatment.

In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Habib, the Commissioner reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to professionalism, respect for human rights and due process.

He assured that any personnel found responsible after the investigation would be sanctioned in accordance with the law.

The Command also sympathised with the bereaved family and urged anyone with relevant information to support the ongoing investigation.
