PFIPC: Gbajabiamila being targeted to embarrass Tinubu – Wike

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barrister Nyesom Wike, on Thursday alleged that President Ahmed Bola Tinubu’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila is being targeted as a means to embarrass Mr. President.

Wike who stated this on Thursday during his monthly media chat in Abuja, however assured that the embattled Chief of Staff, Gbajabiamila will not be sacked from his position due to the alleged role in the fake agency.

Speaking on the allegations of Gbajabiamila’s involvement in the fake Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC) scandal, Wike denied any involvement by Gbajabiamila, vouching that he knows the Chief of Staff very well as a man of impeccable character.

He also ruled out the possibility of Gbajabiamila’s suspension, despite calls from opposition parties for his suspension over links to the PFIPC scandal.

The Minister described calls from the opposition members, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, on Gbajabiamila’s suspension as rubbish.

“I know the chief of staff very, very well. He did not. People are saying the chief of staff must be sacked. By whom? The opposition? Why not form a government, and then you can sack whoever you want to sack,” Wike said.

Recall that President Tinubu in a statement by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, had directed the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to conduct a thorough investigation into the activities of a “Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council” (PFIPC) and all related matters.

The President directed that the investigation be concluded and a comprehensive report submitted to him within 30 days.
