National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Senator Samuel Anyanwu, said women are the most effective mobiliers in politics.
Anyanwu at the inauguration of PDP National Youth Leadership Consultative Forum, stated that women are often more consistent than men and are more disciplined and responsible.
“If this were a gathering of men, many would have already left for other distractions. That is why women must take this responsibility seriously,” he said.
The National Secretary pledged the party’s support to the PDP National Youth Leader to succeed, disclosing that the PDP is planning a structured mobilisation strategy.
Anyanwu said the party is using Imo State as a model, stating that it has engaged female youths across all 27 local government areas in the state and mobilised at least 50 women per local government.
“We will build a strong political base. Our goal is to reach at least 5,000 female youths per state within the next three months before campaigns begin.
“They will be inaugurated in their respective states, and support such as training tools, laptops, and mobile devices will be provided to help them function effectively.
“We are also working on grassroots structures, including polling unit movements to strengthen mobilisation,” he added.
He urged the youths to reach out to other women who have not been mobilised, to take active part in politics.
“There are many young women in tertiary institutions who are interested in politics, and it is your responsibility to reach out to them and bring them into active participation.
“Politics is not limited by religion or background. In Nigeria, we have leaders of different faiths working together for the same national goal. What matters is building a better country,” he said.
PDP National Youth Leader, Ibrahim Bala-Aboki, in his address, said the aim is to galvanse massive grassroots mobilisation, strengthen the party’s connection with the Nigerian people, and rebuild the PDP’s capacity to reclaim its rightful position in the nation’s political landscape.
“With our vibrant male youths and female youths taking the lead in this movement, I am confident that these objectives are achievable,” he stated.
Bala-Aboki said the forum has already recorded notable achievements, including the bringing together PDP zonal youth leaders and the 36 state PDP youth leaders for a consultative meeting in Abuja.
