Senator Abdulaziz Abubakar Yari has strongly denied allegations that he is sponsoring or financing protests against the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing the claims as false, malicious and politically motivated.
In a statement issued on Monday by his Chief of Staff, Hon. Abdullahi Abdulkarim Tsafe, the former Zamfara State governor dismissed reports linking him to any planned protest against the Federal Government, insisting that he remains a loyal supporter of President Tinubu and his administration.
Tsafe said, “Our attention has been drawn to a laughable and entirely fabricated report alleging that Senator Abdulaziz Abubakar Yari is sponsoring or financing protests against the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”
According to him, Senator Yari has no connection whatsoever with any planned protest and would have no reason to undermine an administration he has consistently supported and worked to strengthen.
The statement emphasized that Yari’s relationship with President Tinubu is built on mutual respect, political conviction and a shared commitment to Nigeria’s development, noting that he was among the early supporters of Tinubu’s presidential ambition.
It further stated that the President has on several occasions publicly acknowledged Yari’s loyalty and contributions to the success of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the implementation of the Renewed Hope Agenda.
“It defies logic and common sense that a man who has committed so much to the success of an administration would suddenly turn around to sponsor protests aimed at undermining that same government,” the statement added.
The senator’s camp accused unnamed political opponents of spreading misinformation and attempting to tarnish his reputation, alleging that such actions were driven by discomfort over his growing political influence and close relationship with key stakeholders across the country.
The statement described Yari as a statesman committed to dialogue, constructive engagement and democratic participation, stressing that he does not engage in sponsored agitation or underhanded political schemes.
While reaffirming his support for President Tinubu, Yari called on Nigerians to disregard the report, describing it as “false, malicious and deserving of contempt.”
The statement maintained that the senator remains focused on his legislative duties, the welfare of his constituents and the broader national interest, adding that he would not be distracted by what it termed “political merchants who thrive on falsehood and sensationalism.”
It further reiterated that no amount of propaganda or political blackmail could alter the longstanding relationship between Senator Yari and President Tinubu or diminish his commitment to loyalty, service and nation-building.
It would be recalled that New Telegraph had reported that the former Zamfara State governor was one of the APC chieftains being considered for Director General of the Presidential Campaign Council (PCC).
