The Bala Wunti Support Organisation (BWSO) has pledged to construct a standard refuse dumping site for residents of Aminu Street in Bauchi metropolis as part of efforts to improve sanitation and environmental health in the state.
The commitment was made during an assessment visit to the community by the organisation’s management team led by its Chief Executive Officer, Malam Mukhtar Ahmed Jarmajo.
Jarmajo said the project was aimed at addressing the waste disposal challenges faced by residents while promoting a cleaner and healthier environment.
According to him, the facility will provide a designated location for refuse disposal and help curb indiscriminate waste dumping, which has contributed to environmental degradation in the area.
He stressed that proper waste management remains critical to preventing diseases associated with poor sanitation and maintaining public health.
The BWSO chief urged residents to take ownership of the project by ensuring proper use and maintenance of the facility upon completion.
Responding on behalf of the community, Ibrahim Umar Wunti expressed gratitude to the organisation, describing the intervention as a timely response to a long-standing environmental challenge.
He noted that the absence of a proper refuse disposal point had exposed residents to sanitation concerns over the years and pledged the community’s support for the successful implementation of the project.
