However, some of these relationships have ended in controversy, with accusations of betrayal, ingratitude and misunderstanding. The recent clash involving Toyin Abraham has again brought the issue to the spotlight.
Toyin Abraham vs Abike Shugaa
The latest dispute is between Toyin Abraham and fast-rising actress, Abike Shugaa.
Abike alleged that she was paid only ₦50,000 for her role in Ijakumo and that her scenes were later removed from the movie. The claim quickly went viral on social media.
However, Toyin denied the allegation. She stated that Abike was paid ₦500,000 for her role in Malaika, describing it as a generous payment for an upcoming actress. She also explained that the decision to cut scenes from Ijakumo was made by the director, not her.
Observers also linked the fallout to Abike’s support for A Tribe Called Judah, produced by Funke Akindele, instead of promoting Toyin’s project.
Olaide Olabanji vs Mercy Aigbe
Veteran producer Olaide Olabanji recently accused actress Mercy Aigbe of ingratitude.
Olabanji claimed he discovered the actress in 2004 and gave her a platform to start acting without collecting any money.
He, however, alleged that Mercy Aigbe now avoids him and has even blocked him on social media. The actress has not publicly responded to the claims.
Funke Akindele and Juliana Olayode, Tobi Makinde
The relationship between Funke Akindele and Juliana Olayode (Toyo Baby) was once strained.
However, both actresses settled their differences in 2023. In a recent interview, Juliana admitted that she made mistakes in the past and said she had worked towards making peace.
There were also rumours of a misunderstanding between Funke and Tobi Makinde.
The rumours started when fans noticed his absence from her movie promotions. However, Tobi dismissed the claims and said there was no issue between them.
Odunlade Adekola vs Omoba Sanjay
Popular actor Odunlade Adekola has also been linked to a fallout with his trainee, Bello Oladipupo.
Sanjay claimed that after a training programme, he was sidelined and denied acting opportunities for about three years.
He alleged that the actor wanted to focus on training new talents instead.
Bimbo Akintola vs Iyabo Ojo
Veteran actress Bimbo Akintola once spoke about her disappointment with Iyabo Ojo.
She said she helped Iyabo get a lead role at a young age but was unhappy when the actress became pregnant shortly after.
