Nigeria international Ademola Lookman will be aiming to secure his first trophy with Atlético Madrid when they take on Real Sociedad in the final of the Copa del Rey on Saturday.
The final, scheduled to be played at the Estadio de la Cartuja, presents a major opportunity for the Nigerian winger to make an immediate impact since joining the Spanish side earlier this year.
Lookman moved to Atlético Madrid from Atalanta in January and has quickly established himself as a key player under manager Diego Simeone. Since his arrival, he has contributed six goals and four assists in 17 appearances across all competitions, highlighting his importance to the team.
The 26-year-old has also played a decisive role in Atlético’s run to the final, scoring crucial goals in victories over Real Betis and Barcelona. In the Copa del Rey alone, he has recorded two goals and two assists in three appearances.
A victory in the final would mark only the second club trophy of Lookman’s career, following his UEFA Europa League triumph with Atalanta in the 2023/24 season.
Atlético Madrid will be chasing their 11th Copa del Rey title, while Real Sociedad will be looking to claim the trophy for the fifth time, setting the stage for a keenly contested encounter.
