Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has appeared for trial on alleged corruption case against him. His appearance at kaduna the state high court was again witnessed with heavy security presence.
As usual, the security around the court premises was beefed up, with operatives stationed at strategic points specifically to maintain law and order, barring newsmen.
El-Rufai appearance followed his standing trial by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) alongside one Amadu Sule over allegations bordering on abuse of office, fraud, intent to commit fraud and conferring undue advantage.
Surprisingly, shortly before entering the chamber or courtroom, the former governor was overheard discussing the forthcoming convention of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) with an associate.
El-rufai recalled that, “So tomorrow is our convention, right?” he asked some of his associates who responded by saying, “God willing,” indicating his continued interest in political activities despite the ongoing trial.
The former Governor is also facing a separate 10-count charge before the Federal High Court in Kaduna, involving alleged abuse of office, money laundering and fraud said to involve N579.6 million and $1.1 million.
