2027: Oyo Assembly endorses Speaker, Ogundoyin, to succeed Makinde

Members of Oyo State House of Assembly have unanimously endorsed the Speaker, Adebowale Ogundoyin, to succeed Governor Seyi Makinde in 2027.

The lawmakers announced the endorsement of Ogundoyin, who represents Ibarapa East State constituency on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) during plenary on Wednesday.

The motion for Ogundoyin’s endorsement was moved by the Deputy Speaker, Muhammad Fadeyi, who hails from Ibadan, and is representing Ona Ara State constituency.

The Deputy Speaker noted that he and his colleagues have resolved to mobilise the people of the state to support Ogundoyin, who he described as a stabilising force within the legislative arm of government in the state.

He added that the Speaker has what it takes to succeed Makinde in 2027.

The Majority leader of the House, Sanjo Adedoyin, in his presentation, also described the Speaker as a leader who has demonstrated capacity beyond expectations, while other lawmakers at the plenary also supported the move.

The lawmakers added that the Speaker’s performance has demonstrated readiness for higher responsibility, just as they pledged to support his aspiration to succeed Makinde in 2027.
