Lagos Govt partners UK-based organisation to drive digital learning in public schools

The Lagos State Government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with a United Kingdom-based digital learning organisation, Estar, to deploy modern technology-driven education platforms across public primary and secondary schools in the state.

As disclosed in a public statement from the state’s Ministry of Information and Strategy, Monday, the partnership is aimed at enhancing teaching and learning through the integration of digital tools that align with the school curriculum while equipping students with essential 21st-century skills.

According to the government, the initiative will provide students with access to curriculum-based digital resources designed to strengthen critical thinking, communication, decision-making, leadership, and emerging competencies in artificial intelligence (AI).

Officials noted that beyond technical skills, the programme is also expected to improve foundational learning outcomes, including reading, comprehension, confidence, and active classroom participation among students.

As part of the rollout, the state will invest significantly in teacher capacity development, ensuring educators are well-equipped to effectively utilise the new tools and deliver more engaging, interactive lessons.

The statement noted that the collaboration reflects its broader commitment to preparing students for the demands of a rapidly evolving global economy while improving overall learning outcomes across the public education system.

The initiative is expected to be implemented in phases, with a focus on sustainability and measurable impact in classrooms statewide.
