Edo State Police Command said a Nigerien national has been arrested in Ubiaja, Esan South East local government area for kidnapping activities.
The Police Command in a statement issued on Sunday by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Eno Ikoedem said the arrest was sequel to the cation taken on kidnapping after the disturbing reports of kidnapping activities in parts of Edo State where the Commissioner of Police, Monday Agbonika ordered an onslaught on them.
Sh said “On 17th February 2026 at about 1800hrs operatives of Ubiaja Division through technical intelligence arrested a suspected kidnapper, Suleman Harruna ‘m’, aged 28, a national of the Republic of Niger who resides in Kaba, Kogi State.”
The statement said “The suspect, who had earlier been placed on the Command’s wanted list, was eventually apprehended during a security operation in the area. During interrogation, members of the Hausa/Fulani community were invited for identification and the suspect was identified as a member of a notorious kidnapping gang alongside one other. The suspect made useful confessions and has been aiding the police in ongoing investigations.
“On 20th February 2026 at about 1750hrs, another suspect, Ibrahim Kodo ‘m’, aged 25, of Illushi Community, was tracked down and arrested in collaboration with personnel from the Nigerian Army. The suspect was identified by a kidnapped victim as one among three armed men who kidnapped him on 2nd June 2025 at about 1000hrs from his farm.
“Similarly, on 26th February 2026 at about 0900hrs, another suspected kidnapper named Orsee Iorzaa ‘m’, aged 32, of Omi Camp in Illushi, through steady surveillance based on intelligence.
“A kidnapped victim identified the suspect as one of the five-man gang who invaded his home with guns and kidnapped him on the 21st of February, 2026. Investigation is on top gear to recover their arms and apprehend other members of the syndicate.
She said “The Commissioner of Police, CP Monday Agbonika, fdc, commends the Divisional Police Officer, Ubiaja Division, and his team for their resilience, professionalism and sustained operational tempo which has led to these laudable successes.
“The Command also calls on residents to continue cooperating with the police by providing credible and timely information that will aid ongoing efforts to rid the area and the state at large of criminal elements.”
