29 DIGs, AIGs may be sacked after Egbetokun’s removal

No fewer than 29 senior police officers, including Deputy Inspectors-General of Police and Assistant Inspectors-General of Police, may be removed from office following the sack of former Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.

Sources within the Nigeria Police Force and the Police Service Commission revealed that the planned shake-up forms part of a wider restructuring of the force’s leadership hierarchy.

“Twenty-nine senior officers are to be fired. Senior DIGs and AIGs are set to go as part of the realignment,” a source disclosed.

The following officers who formed the management team may be affected, including DIG Sahabo Abubakar Yahaya, DIG Bzigu Yakubu Kwazi, DIG Frank E. Mba, DIG Sadiq Idris Abubakar, DIG Williams Adebowale, DIG Adebola Ayinde Hamzat, DIG Ben Nebolisa Okolo, and DIG Basil O. Idegwu.

Egbetokun was removed at the directive of President Bola Tinubu and has reportedly been instructed to hand over to Tunji Disu, who currently heads the Force Criminal Investigation Department Annex in Alagbon, Lagos.
