The Federal Government has reinforced security operations in Benue State with the deployment of additional personnel and logistics, as Governor Hyacinth Alia expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the intervention.
In a statement in Makurdi by the governor’s Technical Adviser on Media, Publicity and Strategic Communication, Chief Solomon Iorpev, Fr. Alia described the federal support as timely and commendable amid ongoing security concerns in parts of the state.
Governor Alia, while receiving the newly deployed security operatives, expressed satisfaction with the level of assistance being provided by President Tinubu stressing that the reinforcements would help restore enduring peace across the state.
He charged the personnel to discharge their duties with diligence and professionalism, noting the import of securing Benue as the Food Basket of the Nation.
The governor also commended heads of security agencies in the state for their “sustained efforts” particularly referencing the recent rescue of the Utonkon nine children as evidence of improved operational effectiveness.
He urged the agencies to sustain the momentum until all forms of insecurity are decisively tackled.
Governor Alia directed the operatives to provide adequate protection for workers handling the Nyihemba–Abande road project, explaining that the infrastructure is expected to ease movement and enhance response time to distress situations.
