AFCON: Eagles coach Chelle hails players  after 3–2 win over Tunisia

Super Eagles head coach, Eric Chelle, has pointed to ball control and attacking efficiency as the key reasons behind Nigeria’s 3–2 victory over Tunisia in their AFCON group encounter on Saturday.

Nigeria produced an impressive display, with goals from Victor Osimhen, Wilfred Ndidi and Ademola Lookman sealing a crucial win against the North Africans.

The result places the Super Eagles at the top of Group C with six points from two matches. Tunisia sit second on the table, while Tanzania and Uganda occupy third and fourth positions respectively.

Reacting after the match, Chelle praised his players for their composure and dominance, especially in possession, insisting that Nigeria controlled the game for most of the contest.

“We managed the ball very well for about 70 minutes,” Chelle said during his post-match chat with RFI. “Scoring three goals in this kind of game shows the quality of the performance.”

He also highlighted Tunisia’s defensive record prior to the encounter, noting the significance of Nigeria’s attacking display.

“This is a team that didn’t concede a single goal during the World Cup qualifiers,” he added. “Putting three goals past them shows that we played a very strong game.”

Nigeria will face Uganda in their final group match in the coming days as they continue their AFCON campaign.
