Family of the late President Muhammadu Buhari and former members of the Federal Executive Council on Wednesday gathered in Abuja for the book presentation of the former Minister of Information and Culture Alhaji Lai Mohammed.
The book presentation was chaired by the former National interim Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Bisi Akande.
Among those present at the event was the wife of Buhari, Aisha Buhari represented by the daughter, Halima Buhari, Rotimi Ameachi, Sen. Olurunimbe Mamarowa, Prof. Pantami, Emeka Nwajiuba, Kayode Fayemi, Prof. Ibrahim Gambari and Boss Mustapha.
Others who were also present were: Buba Matuqa, Chairman, NDLEA, Sen. Salihu Mustapha, former National Security Adviser, Oyo State governor, Seyi Makinde Chairman, Arewa consultative Forum, Presidential Adviser, Bayo Onanuga, Amb Nominee, Ayo Oke, Director General National Orientation Agency (NOA) Lanre Onilu, Minister of Information, Mohammed Idris and
Alhaji Nasiru Danu.
The book titled: Headlines and Sound bites: Media moments that defined an Administration was reviewed by Chairman, Thisday Editorial Board and firmer Presidential Adviser, Segun Adeniyi.
Adeniyi faulted Lai Mohammed account on the End Sars protest.
According to him, Lai Mohammed classification of End Sars protest in the book was unfair to the families of those that lost their loved ones in the protest.
The keynote address titles: “Nigerian unfilled global expectations,” was given by the former Head of Service of the Federation, Prof. Oladapo Afolabi.
He said, “Nigeria is not commanding the respect she deserves. The rest of the world believe that we are not managing the resources in our hands well enough
We need to ask ourselves, how did we get here. Why should we not hold our position in Africa and the world very well.
“Let us build on the respect that we had had in the past. We have extremely weak institution and the consequences is that anything goes. Corruption can be taken out by rule of law strong institutions and morality.
“We must also address why we are losing fate in elections. We must make our elections to be what it should be so that everybody can believe. We should say no to a winner takes all in election victory and constitutional amendment is long over due.”
The governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde in his remarks said he was not ready to join APC.
