Former Osun State Commissioner for Finance, Mr. Bola Oyebamiji, has emerged as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Osun State, following the party’s primary election held on Saturday.
Oyebamiji clinched the ticket after polling the highest number of votes among other aspirants who contested the keenly watched primary. The exercise, which took place under tight security, attracted party delegates from across the state and was supervised by officials of the party’s national leadership.
Party officials announced Oyebamiji as the winner after the votes were collated and results declared, bringing the primary process to a close. His emergence signals the APC’s readiness to challenge for power in the next governorship election in the state.
In his acceptance remarks, Oyebamiji expressed gratitude to party delegates and leaders for the confidence reposed in him. He described his victory as a collective mandate and called on other aspirants to close ranks with him in the interest of party unity and success at the polls.
He pledged to run an inclusive campaign focused on development, economic growth, and good governance, promising to draw from his experience in public service to address the challenges facing Osun State. Oyebamiji also assured supporters that he would prioritise transparency, accountability, and people-oriented policies if elected.
The primary election was largely peaceful, with party leaders commending delegates for conducting themselves orderly throughout the process. Observers noted that the smooth conduct of the exercise could strengthen the APC’s internal cohesion ahead of the general election.
With the primary concluded, attention now shifts to reconciliation efforts within the party, as leaders work to mobilise members and supporters across the state. The APC leadership has expressed confidence that the party is well-positioned to mount a strong campaign and regain control of the state.
Oyebamiji’s emergence sets the stage for a highly competitive governorship race, as political activities are expected to intensify in the coming months with parties unveiling their candidates and campaign strategies.
