Okpebholo Removes Ikpasajah as EDOGIS MD Over Presco Land Revocation Row

Fresh information has surfaced on the circumstances leading to Governor Monday Okpebholo’s dismissal of the Managing Director of the Edo State Geographic Information Service (EDOGIS), Mr. Tony Ikpasajah.

Ikpasajah’s removal is linked to controversies surrounding the revocation of 13,545 hectares of land owned by Presco Plc in Ologbo, within Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area of Edo State.

According to government insiders, the governor was reportedly displeased that he had not been adequately informed about the matter before actions were taken.

Officials who verified the development disclosed that an official letter terminating Ikpasajah’s appointment has already been issued.

The Edo State Government had, on Wednesday, placed an advertorial announcing the revocation of Presco’s land, citing Sections 28 and 38 of the Constitution. However, within 24 hours, the Secretary to the State Government, Musa Ikhilor, stated that Ikpasajah took the decision without approval, noting he acted “unilaterally, without authorisation, and in complete disregard for established procedures and the actual number of hectares intended for excision from PRESCO PLC’s total landholding.”

The SSG added that the state has begun a formal administrative review to address the former EDOGIS chief’s actions and to reinforce internal processes to avoid similar occurrences in the future.
