Political winds are shifting in Enugu State as key figures in the All Progressives Congress (APC) from the Enugu West Senatorial District have openly declared their full support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.
During a meeting held at the Golden Royale Hotel in Enugu, the stakeholders shared a joint statement pledging their loyalty to Tinubu and his Renewed Hope Agenda. The group believes the President deserves another term and is ready to work towards making that happen.
Adding to the political buzz, the group expressed excitement over reports that Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah has joined the APC. They described his defection as a big win for the party, saying it places Enugu State more firmly in Nigeria’s mainstream political scene.
The statement was presented by Barrister Godwin Onwusi, a former House of Assembly candidate, and signed by several notable APC leaders in the region. Among them were Prof. Nick Ezeh, Vin Martin Iloh, and Chief Emeka Udeh, showing a wide consensus within the party’s local leadership.
One major topic during the meeting was the recent decision by the APC National Working Committee to dissolve the former Enugu State Executive Committee, which had been led by Ugochukwu Agballa. The stakeholders welcomed this move, calling it necessary to end internal conflict and begin rebuilding unity within the party.
They also applauded the appointment of a new Caretaker Committee for the state chapter. Dr. Ben Nwoye and Rt. Hon. Eugene Odoh will serve as Chairman and Secretary, respectively. Other members include H.E. Fidelia Akuabata Njeze, Dr. Chiedozie Nelson Nwafor, and Dr. Oby Ajih.
The group urged every APC member in the state to rally behind the new team to help reposition the party ahead of future elections.
To them, bringing Governor Mbah into the APC isn’t just symbolic — it’s a real chance to grow the party’s influence both in Enugu and on the national stage.
