English actor, Tom Holland, best known for portraying Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, has sustained a mild concussion while filming his upcoming movie, Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
According to CNN, the incident occurred on set but did not require hospitalisation. Holland’s representative confirmed that the 29-year-old actor will take a short break from filming as a precaution and is expected to return to work within a few days.
“Tom experienced a mild concussion and out of precaution, he will take a break from filming and is expected to return to work in a few days,” a source told the outlet. The representative added that the situation was contained and that “thankfully, no one else was affected and production will continue on as planned.”
Holland, who began his career as a child actor in the stage musical Billy Elliot, made his feature film debut in 2012’s disaster drama The Impossible. He rose to international fame in 2016 after being cast as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, debuting in Captain America: Civil War.
Since then, he has headlined a successful Spider-Man trilogy and appeared in ensemble blockbusters including Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. Beyond his Marvel success, Holland has starred in projects such as Cherry (2021) and Uncharted (2022), showcasing his versatility outside the superhero genre.
