Tacha Urges Nigerians to Hold All Leaders Accountable, Not Just Tinubu

Former Big Brother Naija housemate and influencer, Natasha Akide, popularly known as Tacha, has urged Nigerians to hold all tiers of government accountable rather than focusing their frustrations solely on President Bola Tinubu.

In a viral video posted on Monday, Tacha criticised the tendency of Nigerians to blame the presidency for the country’s challenges while overlooking the responsibilities of governors, senators, and local government chairmen.

Citing the Federation Account Allocation Committee’s (FAAC) recent disbursement of ₦2.2 trillion to the federal, state, and local governments in August 2025, Tacha argued that public funds are available but are being grossly mismanaged.

“₦44 billion, I didn’t say million, ₦44 billion has been disbursed to a local government chairman. Watch how they’ll do absolutely nothing with it, because at the end of the day, they understand that Nigerians will come out and drag Tinubu,” she said.

According to her, many underperforming leaders at the grassroots level escape scrutiny because Nigerians concentrate criticism on the presidency and Lagos State, which she described as “one of the best performing states.”

“It be like say only two people Nigerians like to drag for this country. Every Nigerian has believed that their problem is Tinubu. Even with the fact that as little as a local government chairman’s office is, their responsibilities are a lot and they are absolutely doing nothing,” she added.

Tacha further challenged citizens to demand accountability from their representatives, stressing that many people cannot even name their local government chairman.

“Money has been given to your state governors, money has been given to your local government chairman, your House of Reps members, your senators. Hold them by their neck, let them deliver. If you start dragging these people individually, we’ll see that Nigeria will change,” she said.

She concluded by calling on Nigerians to “drag everybody” in leadership positions rather than directing all criticism at the presidency.

The FAAC allocation of ₦2.2 trillion in August represents one of the highest monthly disbursements in recent years.
