Shalamar to Perform in Abuja for Nigeria’s 65th Independence Day

The iconic American RnB group, Shalamar, is set to delight fans in Abuja on October 4, 2025, with a special concert celebrating Nigeria’s 65th Independence Day. The Grammy-winning trio—Howard Hewett, Carolyn Griffey, and Jeffrey Daniel will headline the event at the International Conference Centre, performing beloved classics like “A Night To Remember” and “I Can Make You Feel Good.”

Promoted by iCreate Africa in collaboration with First Culture Limited, the concert aims to provide a nostalgic experience for old-school music lovers.

The Chief Executive Officer of iCreate Africa, Bright Jaja, described the event as a landmark cultural moment in a statement to Saturday Beats. “We are thrilled to welcome Shalamar to Abuja. Their decision to include Nigeria in their tour is not just an honor; it is a long-overdue gift to a vibrant community of music lovers who have carried their legacy for decades,” he said. “Our goal is to fill a major gap in the entertainment space by creating unforgettable experiences for mature audiences. They will perform all their classic hit songs, backed by a seven-piece live band.”

The Creative Director of First Culture, Tunde Babalola, emphasised the significance of the concert, stating, “This isn’t just a concert; it’s a gift to all generations. A musical bridge between the past and present; don’t miss this rare opportunity to experience a breathtaking Shalamar performance that has been curated to evoke thrills, nostalgia, and goosebumps.”
