The Lagos State Police Command has successfully rescued a 7-year-old boy and arrested his alleged abductor, 32-year-old Chigozie Michael Clement.
According to police reports, the incident happened on August 25, 2025, when the boy’s father raised an alarm at Alapere Police Division after discovering that his son had been taken away by a painter working for the family. Shortly after, the suspect allegedly contacted the child’s mother and demanded ₦7 million for the boy’s release.
Detectives immediately launched an investigation and tracked Clement to the Ijegun area of Lagos, where he was apprehended on August 27, 2025. The boy was found locked inside a room and was rescued unharmed before being reunited with his family.
During questioning, the suspect admitted to committing the act, claiming he did it out of desperation to cater to his family. Police spokesperson CSP Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed the arrest and stated that further investigations were underway to identify any accomplices. He added that Clement would soon face charges in court.
Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, reassured residents that the Command remains committed to fighting crime and protecting lives across the state.
