By-Election: PDP unveils campaign council for Edo-Central Senatorial election

With just few weeks before the August 16 by-election in the Edo Central Senatorial District, and Ovia Federal Constituency. The crisis ridden Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)in Edo State has formally announced the formation of its Campaign Council for Edo Central Senatorial District.

The campaign council is tasked with the responsibility to secure victory for the struggling opposition party.

A statement by Chris Nehihkare, Acting Publicity Secretary of PDP in Edo State said Senator Clifford Ordia, a two-term senator who formerly represented the Edo Central Senatorial District was named the chairman of the campaign council, while Hon. Joe Edionwele, a former Esan West Local Government chairman and two-term member of the House of Representatives, who represented Esan West, Esan Central, and Igueben Federal Constituency was named Director-General of Operations for the campaign.

Others are Barr. Lawson Ogedengbe, Hon. Patrick Iluobe — a former lawmaker from Esan North-East Constituency I and Hon. Victor Emonvon.

Others include Matthew Evbhotemen, chairman of the PDP in Esan Central; Clifford Inegbedion, chairman in Esan North-East; Lawrence Odiaze, chairman in Esan South-East; Ikhajangbe A. Andy, chairman in Esan West; and Liberty Ogboh, who leads the party in Igueben Local Government Area.

In a further move to strengthen its campaign apparatus, the party also announced appointments to the Directorate of Publicity, Media and Strategy. Thadeus Irabor, Akin Anenih, Omonkhua Fredrick, Morrison Omowele, and Ehinomen Olumese have all been drafted into the team responsible for communications and messaging.

Speaking on behalf of the party, Publicity Secretary of the Edo PDP Caretaker Committee, Chris Osa Nehikhare, expressed confidence in the newly inaugurated campaign council.

“The Edo PDP is confident that this team, under the capable leadership of Senator Clifford Ordia, will drive a robust, issue-based campaign that resonates with the aspirations of the people of Edo Central,” Nehikhare said.
