Tinubu Returns to Abuja After 14-Day Diplomatic Tour Across Saint Lucia and Brazil

President Bola Tinubu concludes his two-nation tour of Saint Lucia and Brazil, arriving in Abuja after high-level diplomatic engagements. Here's a breakdown of his trip and global travel record since assuming office.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has officially concluded his diplomatic tour of Saint Lucia and Brazil and is now en route to Abuja, Nigeria. His departure from Galeão International Airport in Rio de Janeiro was recorded at 12:50 pm local time (4:50 pm Nigerian time) on Saturday. The President is expected to touch down in Abuja by 2:50 am on Sunday.

The tour, which lasted two weeks, began in Saint Lucia on June 29 and ended in Brazil, where Tinubu participated in the 17th meeting of the Global South and Emerging Economies bloc from July 5 to 7. During these visits, the President engaged in high-level bilateral talks, multilateral summits, and strategic diplomatic meetings aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s global alliances and economic partnerships.

Since assuming office in May 2023, President Tinubu has undertaken a staggering 41 foreign trips, visiting at least 28 countries. France tops the list as his most visited nation, having hosted the President on six occasions. Other frequently visited countries include the United Kingdom (four times) and the United Arab Emirates (three times). He has made two visits each to Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Germany, Ethiopia, Ghana, and Guinea-Bissau, while countries like India, Kenya, Qatar, China, the Netherlands, Brazil, and the USA have received him once.

The President’s extensive travel log reflects Nigeria’s active push for increased international engagement across economic, security, and developmental fronts. While many of these trips have drawn praise for fostering bilateral ties and attracting potential investments, they have also attracted criticism over costs and the frequency of travel amidst pressing domestic issues.

As Tinubu returns home, political analysts and citizens alike will be watching closely to see the tangible outcomes of these foreign missions—particularly those promising economic relief, job creation, and enhanced national development.
