A delegation from Nigeria has arrived in Madinah, Saudi Arabia, to attend the burial of renowned businessman and elder statesman, Aminu Dantata, who died on Saturday at the age of 94 in Abu Dhabi.
The group departed Nigeria late Sunday and arrived in the holy city early Monday morning. This was confirmed in a statement by Rabiu Ibrahim, the Special Assistant to the Minister of Information and National Orientation.
Leading the team is the Minister of Defence and former governor of Jigawa State, Muhammad Badaru Abubakar. He is joined by the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Prince Lateef Fagbemi, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, and the Minister of State for Housing Development, Yusuf Abdullahi Ata.
Also present are prominent Islamic clerics including Dr Bashir Aliyu Umar, Sheikh Aminu Ibrahim Daurawa, and Khalifa Abdullahi Muhammad, the Imam of Dantata Mosque in Abuja.
They were received by officials from Nigeria’s consulate general in Jeddah, led by Ambassador Muazzam Ibrahim Nayaya, who is coordinating preparations for the burial.
The burial is scheduled to take place later today in accordance with Islamic rites.
Aminu Dantata was widely respected for his contributions to Nigeria’s economic growth and philanthropy. He was a symbol of business excellence and national service, and his passing marks the end of an era for many who admired his legacy.
