“How My Children Were Taken Away From Me Because I Married Into a Wealthy Family” – Actress Bukky Wright Opens Up

Veteran Nollywood actress Bukky Wright has shared an emotional account of her troubled marital journey and the painful separation from her children.
Speaking as a panellist at a recent event, the actress revealed that her children were taken away from her at a young age after she married into a wealthy family that doubted her future success.
According to Bukky Wright, her in-laws never believed she would become successful or make a name for herself in life. She explained that her decision to venture into acting was partly driven by the hope that her children would one day be able to find her and reconnect with her.
“My children were taken away from me when they were young because I married into a very wealthy family, and they did not believe I would amount to anything in life. I never even thought of becoming a star. I started acting so that when my children grow up, they would at least know where to find me,” she said.
The actress, who has been married four times, also disclosed in a past interview that she remains open to giving marriage another chance if the opportunity comes.
Bukky Wright’s marriage to Adewale Onitiri reportedly ended in 2014 after four years together. Reports at the time linked the breakdown of the union to long-distance challenges, as her husband lived in New Jersey while she spent much of her time in Lagos.
Before then, the actress had also been married to Gboyega Amu, the father of her two sons, as well as journalist Femi Davies and Bolaji Basia.
In February last year, during a conversation with Teju Babyface, Bukky Wright opened up about her battle with depression. She revealed that she was placed on medication and credited her children for helping her through the difficult period, describing them as her strongest support system and biggest critics.
The actress also became emotional last year after receiving a Best Supporting Actress nomination, expressing gratitude to fans and colleagues who welcomed her back to the spotlight and continued to support her career.
