Saudi Arabia Grants Approval for Dantata’s Burial in Madina

The body of renowned Nigerian businessman and philanthropist, Alhaji Aminu Alhassan Dantata, will be laid to rest in the holy city of Madina, Saudi Arabia, following formal approval from the Saudi authorities.

The announcement was made on Sunday by Alhaji Mustapha Abdullahi Junaidu, Private Principal Secretary to the late Dantata, via a heartfelt message on Facebook.

“Alhamdulillah, Alhamdulillah, Alhamdulillah, Alhamdulillah. I have received approval to take Aminu Alhassan Dantata from Abu Dhabi to Madina. He will be buried tomorrow morning by the grace of Allah,” Junaidu wrote.

Dantata, one of Nigeria’s most respected industrialists and patriarch of the famed Dantata family, passed away in the early hours of Saturday in a hospital in Abu Dhabi after a brief illness. He was 94.

The family had earlier confirmed that Dantata’s final resting place would be beside his late wife, Hajiya Rabi’a Dantata, who died in 2023 and was also buried in Madina. The decision aligns with the deceased’s long-held personal wish.

In Nigeria, tributes have continued to pour in for the man widely regarded as a pillar of business and charity in Northern Nigeria and beyond. On Saturday, a special Islamic prayer service—Salatul Ga’ib—was held in his honour in Kano, attracting dignitaries, family, and community members.

Among those present at the solemn gathering was the Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibrin, who joined other mourners to pay tribute to the life and legacy of the late Dantata.

Alhaji Aminu Dantata’s passing marks the end of an era for one of Nigeria’s most prominent business dynasties. He is remembered not only for his remarkable success in commerce and industry but also for his generosity, humility, and deep religious devotion.

Final rites will be conducted in accordance with Islamic tradition on Monday morning in Madina.
