Tragedy struck in Okpanam, Delta State, on Monday morning as a 26-year-old man named Ebere was discovered dead in a hotel room near the Midwifery Junction area.
According to sources, Ebere checked into the hotel with a friend at about 4 p.m. on Sunday. However, by the next morning around 6 a.m., his friend reportedly raised the alarm after finding him lifeless on the floor.
Hotel staff confirmed that CCTV footage captured the two friends checking in together. “His friend said they slept and woke up to find him dead,” a hotel source disclosed.
Following the report, the Delta State Police Command took the friend into custody pending further investigation. The command also confirmed that the body has been moved to a morgue.
Speaking on the incident, the police spokesperson, SP Bright Edafe, said,
“The suspect will not be released until an autopsy is carried out to determine the cause of death. The hotel management has already reported the incident, and investigations are ongoing.”
As the community remains in shock, residents and netizens alike are calling for a thorough probe to uncover what really happened inside that room.
