Panic On Sallah Day, As 43-Yr-Old Man Jumps Into Well In Kwara After Taking Colorado

Residents of the Edun area of Ilorin were thrown into mourning on Friday morning after a 43-year-old man, identified as Kazeem, reportedly jumped into a domestic well while under the influence of a psychoactive substance known as ‘Colo’ (Colorado).

The incident occurred shortly after Kazeem returned from Eid prayers, sparking shock and confusion among locals.
According to a statement from the Kwara State Fire Service, the agency received an emergency call at approximately 10:29 a.m. from the Alapo compound in Edun, alerting them to a man who had fallen into a well.
Spokesperson for the Fire Service, Hassan Adekunle, confirmed that firefighters were immediately dispatched to the scene and successfully recovered Kazeem’s lifeless body.
Preliminary reports suggest that the deceased was intoxicated at the time of the incident. Witnesses claim his behavior became erratic before he tragically plunged into the well.
Kazeem’s body was later handed over to officers at the local police station for further investigation, as authorities await formal identification by family members.
The incident has sparked fresh concerns over the rising abuse of synthetic drugs like ‘Colo’ in parts of Kwara State. Residents and community leaders are calling for urgent intervention to address substance abuse, especially among youths and vulnerable adults.
Police say investigations are ongoing, and the cause of death will be confirmed following an autopsy.
