Police Nab Multiple Suspects in Various Crimes in Sokoto

The Sokoto State Police Command has successfully apprehended multiple suspects linked to criminal conspiracy, theft, and vandalism of critical electrical infrastructure in Bodinga Local Government Area.  

On May 14, 2025, at about 12:00 hours, a formal complaint was lodged at the Bodinga Divisional Police Station by Aminu Haliru, an employee of the Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company (KAEDCO).

The report detailed the vandalism and theft of armored electric transformer cables at six locations including Tashan Gari,Tashan Gawo Kauran Mijo, Bodinya, Marina,Fatima Yahaya Hospital,Tulluwa and  General Hospital Bodinga.

Statement issued by DSP Ahmad Rufai, anipr  Police Public Relations Officer further stated that the success followed a swift and thorough investigation, one Nuhu Yusuf, a male resident of Sifawa, Bodinga LGA, was arrested.

The suspect confessed to vandalizing and stealing armored cables from the electrical installation at Fatima Nursing School in Sifawa.

 He further admitted to transferring the stolen materials to an accomplice, Bello Alhaji Abubakar (alias ZAZU), also of Sifawa, for sale.  

Subsequent interrogations revealed that Abubakar had previously facilitated the sale of stolen electrical components to Alhaji Danmaitasha, a co-conspirator residing in the same vicinity.

The stolen armored cable was successfully recovered, and all implicated suspects are currently in police custody.  

On same vain 14/05/2025 at about 08:00hrs a Vigilante group of Tukatuku village, Bodinga local government area Sokoto while on patrol apprehended one Mukthar usman  of Binjin Musa village,Yabo LGA in possession  of two bags of Aluminum conductor wires suspected to be stolen properties.

The suspects will be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of the investigation to face prosecution under relevant statutes.
