The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) said it has approved a new sewage treatment plant and other projects worth about N2.6 billion naira.
The Coordinator, Abuja Metropolitan Management Council ( AMMC) Chief Felix Obuah disclosed this after the 14th EXCO meeting of the Federal Capital Territory Administration( FCTA) chaired by the Minister, Nyesom Wike.
Obuah said the Minister approved the award of contracts for the operation and maintenance of sewage plants and other projects estimated at over N2 Billion Naira in different districts of the city.
Obuah stated, “ we sought and got approval for the ratification and award of contracts for the operation and maintenance of Apo Erector, and also sought and got approval for the extension of service contracts for the operation and maintenance of Wupa Basic Sewage Treatment Plant.
“We also sought and got approval for the extension of service contracts for the provision of solid waste collection and management services for 40 related in FCT, for a period of two months.
“All these three approvals put together gave us almost a total of about 2.6 billion Naira”, he added.
Also, Chief of Staff to FCT Minister, Chidi Amadi said that more land changes were underway in the ongoing reforms in land administration in the nation’s capital.
Amadi noted that there would be major changes in the procedures of land acquisition and other policies that relate to the development of the capital city.
He said, “Unfortunately the Director of Land is not here. The Director of Land did make a presentation on very critical policies surrounding the changes, the renovations, the overview of the land procedure here in FCT. I’m sure that there’s going to be a designated press interview for this because it’s very key.
“It goes to the foundation of all that relates to land acquisition, the processes, and all that it takes. I won’t be competent enough to give you the breakdown of what is contained here. Once he’s out of a specific assignment, I will meet him hopefully on or before the end of this week. Definitely, he will have a press brief on this matter”.
