Nigerians React As Federal Govt's Claim Aso Rock Pays N47 Billion Yearly For Electricity

The Federal Government’s claim of paying ₦47 billion annually for electricity has sparked widespread skepticism among Nigerians, particularly on social media platforms.
Many netizens question the accuracy of this figure, especially when juxtaposed with reports of substantial debts owed by the government to electricity providers
Recall that in 2024, the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC), in an advertorial titled ‘Notice of disconnection,’ said the presidential villa owed an electricity bill of N923.87 million.

The Disco also issued a 10-day notice to the presidential villa and 86 government ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs) to pay the N47.1 billion electricity debt they owe or risk disconnection.
This is coming after Tinubu’s Administration proposed a N10billion Solar panel project in Aso Rock.
