A support group of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Alliance for Transformation Mandates (ATMs) has commended the presidential candidate of the party in the 2023 general elections, Prince Adewole Adebayo for holding meeting with the former governors of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasiru El-rufai and Osun State, Rauf Aregbesola.
According to the group, the gesture was commendable.
ATM had earlier issued a statement against Adebayo for speaking against the former Kaduna State governor and other coalition members seeking SDP as a platform.
The group had called for the sanction of Adebayo.
But in another statement over the weekend, by the Coordinator of ATMs, Amb. Enobong Inyang, the group said, “Just Barely 24 hours of ATM press release which calls on the social Democratic party (SDP) to sanction its 2023 Presidential candidate for his many unguided press statements against the party which was geared to portray the SDP in bad light.
“Today, the party presidential candidate has reconciled with the Leaders of the party and consultation meetings are currently ongoing to reconcile different interest and to bring a lasting peace with other leaders of the SDP like Malam Nasir Elr-ufai, Major Hamza Al-mustapha is something that is commendable.
“We cannot overemphasize the power of the media in shaping Political attitudes and Narratives.
“Our purpose for the world Press Conference was not targeted at anybody but to call the attention of both party leaders and The presidential candidate to reconciliation paths.
“Seeing the pictures of the meeting of Malam Nasir El-rufai and Prince Adebayo Adewole alongside former Governor of Osun State, Rauf Aregbesola is exciting.
“We appeal for robust discussion that will focus more on the peace path, oneness, progress of SDP and the proposed coalition.
“We must commend Prince Adewole Adebayo, the 2023 Presidential candidate for his prompt response to our called for peace.
“The party can move forward with everybody on board without no one missing.
“Alliance for Transformation Mandates (ATM) will always be for the interest of all in the party and will stand up for any unforeseen challenge.
“So We use this opportunity to also apologize to whoever feels offended by our advocacy for peaceful and conflicts free Social Democratic Party.
“We shall pay a thank you visit to all the leaders of the party including the 2023 presidential candidate as soon as possible.
“Our position is clear, we are for the interest of the party and anything that will have a positive results.”
