Tinubu is committed to ending Plateau attacks, says Minister

The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty reduction Prof. Yilwatda Nentawe has said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration is committed to ending the incessant attacks and killings on the rural communities in Plateau State.

Prof. Nentawe stated this when he visited some affected communities of Riyom and  Bassa Local government areas to commiserate with them on the recent killings of over 51 persons.

The Minister commiserated with the families who lost loved ones, emphasizing the government’s dedication to protecting lives and property. “This is a time for every Plateau citizen to come together, regardless of tribe, religion, or political affiliation,” he Said..

Nentawe noted that President Tinubu has promised to deploy necessary security forces to ensure safety of Plateau citizens, but also stressed the need for community engagement and dialogue to restore peace.

He called for unity among Plateau State citizens to end the recent attacks in Bassa and other parts of the state while  emphasizing the need for citizens to put aside their differences and work together to tackle the root causes of violence.

“We must come together as one united entity,” he said. “It’s time for us to unite to save our people and ultimately, to save our nation.”

 The minister expressed deep concern over the attacks, describing them as a “tragedy that borders on madness”.

 “Let us identify those killing us and confront the triggers of this violence.”

He urged traditional rulers, political leaders, religious leaders, farmers and youth to work together towards lasting peace.

Also the Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru visited the affected communities in Bassa Local Government Area.

The Defense Minister assured that security agencies would bring the senseless killings to an end and capture the perpetrators. “We will get to the root of this matter and ensure justice is served,” he vowed.

He added that the Federal government plans to engage stakeholders in affected communities to curb the cycle of violence.

While responding on the condolences Visits by the two Ministers, the Traditional Ruler of Irigwe Nation Bra Ngwe Irigwe His Royal Highness Rt Rev Ronku Aka  thanked the ministers for their visit and called on the government to provide support to victims to rebuild their destroyed buildings.

He noted that the visit demonstrated the government’s commitment to addressing the incessant attacks and promoting peace in Plateau State.
