A Nigerian mother has disowned her son after he gained admission into university, following her discovery that he wore stud earrings on his matriculation day.
The incident was captured in a video shared on TikTok, where the young man’s sister posted a screenshot of their mother’s message, stating she had no involvement in the matter.
In the message, the mother expressed her disappointment, declaring that she was cutting ties with her son for going against her advice.
She warned him that his actions could lead to trouble and insisted he should never contact her again.
Her message read: “I am disowning you from today. You are no longer my son. Don’t call me for anything. You have chosen your path, so continue. My advice as a mother means nothing to you. One day, you may be arrested—mark my words.”
She also accused her daughter of covering up for her brother, warning that she too would face consequences. “Bolu, your brother has joined a bad gang, and you are covering for him.”
“When he gets arrested, you will follow him. Don’t ask me for money—I am done with both of you. I wish you good luck. Don’t call my number again.”
As the post circulated online, it sparked mixed reactions, with many taking to the comment section to share their opinions.
