Kidnappers kills woman after abducting husband, son, doctor in Abuja

The nightmare in Chikakore, Kubwa, took a heart-wrenching turn as kidnappers snuffed out the life of Mrs. Esther Adesiyan, one of five victims abducted in a chilling Sunday night raid.

Her lifeless body was discovered on Monday night in a bush near Itagbajii, Niger State, sending shockwaves through the already terrified community.

The horror unfolded at about 11:30 p.m. on January 26 when armed men stormed the Adesiyan home, taking her, her husband Akinropo, their son Ifeoluwa, family member Dr. Rauf Adekunle Adeniji, and a neighbor working at a nearby poultry farm. The poultry worker’s wife, caught in the chaos, was badly injured and rushed to Kubwa General Hospital.

The grim discovery came when Mr. Oluwafemi Adepoju, a close associate of Mr. Adesiyan, was summoned to the Byazhin Police Station.

“When I got there, the DPO, Officer Michael Adah, told me we were heading to Niger State to identify a recovered dead body,” Adepoju recounted.

Their journey led them to a General Hospital near Dikko, where the worst fears were confirmed—Mrs. Adesiyan was gone. The police and vigilante team who found her revealed they had heard a gunshot around 9 p.m. during a patrol in Itagbajii.

“She was shot in the left side of her chest, with bruises all over her body,” Adepoju, a National Assembly Commission staff member, said somberly. “They believe the kidnappers killed her because she was too weak to continue their hellish trek through the bush.”

The body was transported back to Abuja and deposited at Kubwa General Hospital.

Meanwhile, FCT police spokesperson SP Josephine Adeh confirmed the abduction but stated that the command was yet to receive an official briefing on the body’s recovery.

“The FCT Police Command is conducting a full-scale search-and-rescue operation to ensure the safe return of the victims and to bring these criminals to justice,” she assured.

Residents of Chikakore are being urged to remain vigilant and report any useful information that could help crack this horrifying case.
