A magistrate court in Ado-Ekiti has refused to grant bail to human rights activist Dele Farotimi, who is facing charges of defaming Afe Babalola, the founder of Afe Babalola University in Ado-Ekiti.
At the court session on Tuesday, Magistrate Abayomi Adeosun deferred the decision on Farotimi’s bail request, setting December 20 as the new date for the ruling.
The delay came after the police prosecutor, Samson Osobu, argued that Farotimi’s bail application was incomplete and improperly filed, prompting the court to postpone its decision.
Farotimi’s case has drawn significant attention due to its connection to Babalola, a prominent legal figure. Further updates on the case are expected in the coming days.
