A bizarre incident occurred in Benin City, Edo State on Monday when Kaduna Eboigbodin, the former Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in Edo State, tragically passed away on Monday following a confrontation with police officers at a checkpoint.

Eboigbodin reportedly collapsed and died after the incident on Upper Sakponba Road, a busy area in the state’s capital.
In a statement released on Wednesday, Moses Yamu, the Police Public Relations Officer for Edo State, confirmed the death and stated that an investigation had been launched to determine the cause of the tragic event.
“The Edo State Command of the Nigeria Police has received with great concern the news of the death of Comrade Kaduna Eboigbodin, former Chairman of the NLC in Edo State, allegedly due to police unprofessional conduct,” the statement read.
Commissioner of Police, Umoru P. Ozigi, expressed deep sorrow over the incident, offering condolences to Eboigbodin’s family, friends, and associates. He also sent prayers for the repose of the deceased’s soul.
As of now, the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the confrontation is ongoing, with the police vowing to fully investigate the incident.
