Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has lauded the outstanding academic achievements of students sponsored by his administration to pursue higher education in India, emphasizing the success of the state’s investment in education.
During a visit to the students at Sharjah University in India, Yusuf expressed pride in their dedication and accomplishments, describing their performance as “clear proof” of the impact of educational investment. He noted that the students had exceeded expectations with their remarkable academic results.
In a statement released on Wednesday by his spokesperson, Sunusi Tofa, the governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to fostering educational growth in Kano State. Yusuf highlighted that nurturing young talents is a cornerstone of his government’s vision for a “prosperous and self-reliant Kano State.”
He further assured the students of continued support and encouraged them to remain focused on their studies, as their success is pivotal to the state’s development.
“The visit has provided me with an opportunity to engage directly with the students, address their challenges and gather valuable insights from the pioneer batch of over 400 students sponsored to various universities in Uganda and India as part of the 100:1 Postgraduate Scholarship Scheme,” the governor said.
According to the statement, the visit enabled the governor to conduct an on-the-spot assessment, aimed at enhancing preparations for the next set of beneficiaries, both for foreign and domestic scholarships, to ensure the completion of the 100:1 initiative before the end of his first tenure.
“The Governor’s visit serves as an inspiration for students to strive for academic excellence, both at home and abroad,” the statement read.
